The Evolution Of The Dual USB Wall Charger

By Johny Jacson

Education has gone digital, and students these days demand more and more devices to cope with their learning needs and preferences. Gone are the days of regular books, notebooks, and pens, and here come the tablets, phones, and laptops among others.

Staying in dorm rooms is convenient for them to be near their schools, but these rooms only have a few outlets which are often reserved for appliances like refrigerators and air conditioners.

Consequently, people tend to always complain about short-lived batteries in their handy phones, tablets, and other gadgets. It only becomes a problem when people are too dependent on their devices for communication, entertainment, and news. So in this very gadget-oriented life, the battery is the only unstable component that hinders gadget-usage until recharged.

Before the dual USB wall charger that made living trouble-free for people who are always on the go, there was only the simple battery charger. It works by providing a pulsed DC power source to the battery management system (BMS) of the device. The flow of current is continuous and non-adjustable according to the time of charge. It's so simple, that along with its inexpensive price, it takes a long time to charge a battery to avoid overcharging by any means.

It was typically annoying for the battery to charge for a long time, so developers have improved a similar simple charger that works faster. This often makes use of a cooling fan to keep the batteries under a safe temperature.

The Universal Serial Bus was then used for its five-volt power supply feature. This is where the dual USB wall charger was derived from, considering its potential to charge any kind of device just by connecting various USB decorations that follow gadget power discipline and design. Using just a USB cable, one can charge devices on a pay-per-charge kiosk that is available for a variety of mobile phones, digital audio players, and tablet computers.

This charger is universal, which particularly means that it is compatible with any device that can be charged using a PC or a Mac USB 2.0/3.0 port. Although the ports are labeled with "tablet" and "phone," other devices, such as iPads, Music players, cameras, and Bluetooth devices can be charged using either port. There's no more discrimination between Apple and non-Apple products, or between big and small items. When not in use, the charger's prongs are foldable, making it compact and easy to store.

A very useful advantage of the dual USB wall charger is that it's able to automatically stop charging when the battery of the device it's charging is full. In addition, the current capacity, the device itself, and the USB cable contribute to limiting the charging current that enters the gadget.

When people are in a hurry and both their smart phone and tablet are battery-drained, they can just plug in both in one highly-functioning dual USB wall charger without having to worry about over-charging because of its ability to stop supplying power current to the gadget once it receives enough power to operate for the entire day.

Using a dual USB wall charger that is designed for fast-paced lives, people will never have to wait that long for their gadgets to recharge one at a time.
