When selecting a network marketing program to join, the best indicator of whether you will be successful in that program is not the amount that the best producers are generating, but rather the average amount that the vast majority of members are making. A program that only has a few select amazing producers and a large amount of non-producing members is exactly the kind of program you want to avoid. Even though you might feel that you can be one of those amazing producers, a program with a vast network of moderate producers is far more stable and has much more potential. After all, even the best networks have their own amazing producers. Choose a program that many people have had success with instead of the program with one person that had a huge success.

It is important to keep track of the money you make in your network marketing strategy. There has to be a point where you choose whether or not to continue if you're not making enough profit to survive on. When that point is can be set before you sign up so you won't have any doubt in your mind if that time comes.

Approach people with questions, not statements. If you give someone the opportunity to answer a question, you are starting a conversation. Approaching with a statement doesn't give the prospect an opening to interact with you and can be a real turn off. When someone gets to answer a question they feel involved in the process and are more attuned to listening to you.

As time goes on, you'll need to budget your earnings to put it toward further marketing while still paying yourself.

Recognize your value-building statements and use them in your presentations. You want to let your prospects know what they are going to get out of this. Keep bringing up the prospect and their family. Phrases like "Your family will benefit by...", "What this means for you is...", and "The value to you is...", will keep people engaged in truly imagining themselves working with your product.

Local marketing associations are a great way to find new recruits and ideas for your business. These groups have keynote speakers who talk about new advances in the marketing field, which can be of great use to your business. Also, being a keynote speaker yourself, can increase your business profits.

When you are new to network marketing, be wary of the multitudes of supposed 'marketing gurus' you may find. Unfortunately the internet is filled with tons of pseudo-experts on any topic you can dream of. Many sites that offer you help with your network marketing needs are new to the business themselves.

Find ways to connect with the people you are trying to recruit into your network. If they feel that you are simply looking to build your own business, they are not going to be interested in the opportunity. However, if you show them that you care about making them money by proving to them that it will work for them personally, they are much more likely to say yes to your proposals.

Listen to your prospective clients carefully. Let them tell you what they want, instead of trying to convince them that they want what you are offering. This way, you can tailor your marketing efforts to their specific needs, and you're more likely to turn a potential contact into a member of your network.

Understand that you are going to get rejected. It's not a commentary on your failure to win them over. There will always be people who are too timid to grasp at the opportunity that is presented. Give them the same amount of time you give any other prospect and then move on. There are plenty of fish in the sea.
